Q & A
What is the difference between the shoots?
The only difference between the two shoots it the timing of them. We'll get to know each other better by spending some time together & you'll feel more relaxed on the big day as you'll know what to expect. It's an excellent way to have a feel of what it's like to be photographed as a couple. Doing romantic poses and a bit of PDA in front of someone new can be a bit of a daunting thought but I guarantee your nerves will vanish within 5 minutes of meeting me!
My couples all say I make them feel at ease & relaxed during the shoot & once they see their photos they get super excited for their wedding gallery! It's great to get a run through of poses & prompts before the wedding so you know what you like & dislike & if there is any you're not keen on, we will simply skip this on big day!
Engagement Shoot.
The engagement shoot is usually booked in for a few weeks or months after securing your wedding date with myself. Some couples opt for an engagement shoot to serve a purpose which might involve using the photos on your save the date cards or to be incorporated into your wedding website etc.
On the other hand it can just be a wonderful opportunity to have professional photos taken together to celebrate that exciting newly engaged period in your lives, a special time to look back on!
Where do we do the shoot?
If you have a special location in mind, I'd love to hear about it! Many couples choose a location that is important to them. I've seen couples choose locations from their childhood, where they went on their first date or even just where they enjoy going for walks every now and again! I am based in Aberdeen so any locations further afield must be discussed before booking.
What should we wear?
First and foremost, you need to feel like yourself! Don't feel like you have to dress a certain way. Some couples like to dress up more & some prefer to have a more relaxed & casual look. Only you will know what is best for you.
You don't have to colour coordinate with your partner. Look for colours that compliment each other & please try avoid colours that clash. Big logos & slogans on your clothing can be distracting, try avoid these as well.
Pre Wedding Shoot
The pre wedding shoot is arranged for around 2-3 months before the big day. I personally would always recommend choosing the pre wedding shoot as it's so useful to have all of the poses fresh in both of your minds by getting a little bit of practice in on the run up to the wedding.
I get in touch with you around 6 months before the wedding to get a date arranged. The earlier the date the better incase the wondrous Scottish weather doesn't play ball & we need to reschedule.
Can we bring our kids?
Yes please! If you have children I would always recommend bringing them along for the shoot. It's great for me to get to know them before the wedding too so I am a familiar face to them on the day. We'll be besties in no time!
What days and time can our shoot take place?
I am super flexible with dates & can manage one that will suit you both. I can accommodate a time through the week or at the weekend. For me, golden hour is the most magical time to get some truly stunning photos that reflects your love for one another as best as I can. Golden hour takes place in the evening just before the sun goes down. The dreamy, glowing light makes everything look so perfect. The timing of golden hour depends on the time of year. I will keep you right on when is best when we arrange a date.
Can pets be included?
Of course! Your four legged friends are part of the family. I wouldn't have family photos without my pup!
